Back To Parkridge

Well, the house is all quiet. Matt, mom and dad went back to Saskatoon yesterday. It was such a flurry of activity that no one had time to be sad. It was raining heavily so Matt had to wait until the rain subsided until they loaded him up. The trip was long and Matt's neck was very sore. He told me if anyone has a neck they could loan him, to let us know!!
We didn't get to do many of the things we had planned. The weather did not cooperate Tuesday and we missed the ball game. But overall I think Matt enjoyed it. We did things a little unorthodox but he found out that he wasn't as fragile as he thought. We were very impressed with him on Monday night when we told him to push himself in his chair. He didn't think he could do it but with his gloves on for grip, he wheeled himself around my kitchen, and we only had to put his left hand back on the wheel when it came off a few times. Also he could use just his left arm/hand to turn the chair by pushing on the wheel. Very proud of you Matt. Just last week he couldn't do it that well and now I even video taped his accomplishment. Not sure how to get it on the blog though, have to wait until John has a free moment.
Thanks for all the continued prayers and good thoughts. Hope everyone has a great long weekend.

Enjoying the Stay

I think Matt has enjoyed the stay so much he wants to stay an extra day. Tonight if the weather stays decent we will go a watch a ball game in town.
Sunday we stayed around the house. It was more of a relaxing day except in the kitchen, which is constanly on the go. Airene and her friend came and did more physio with Matt. He asked how come it lasts 2 1/2 hours and we told him that it was good for him. I think he disagreed. He was feeling pretty stiff afterwards. Matt stayed up in his manual chair all day. Played some more Wii in the evening. Matt beat Gary and someone was sulking! Matt was pretty tired but still didn't go to bed until midnight. Slept well.
Monday Jacki, Gary and the kids left and so did Nolan and Lindsay. We didn't have much time to recover and we had more company from Edmonton. Auntie Ardis, Uncle Ken, Aunt Evelyn and Uncle Hughie came down to visit. Thank goodness because Uncle Ken helped me plant the garden. Matt again stayed up in his manual chair. No standing exercises today but we did practice using a board to transfer Matt from the chair to the bed. He does help out enought to get him transferred nicely, but the rest of the supportive crew spend too much time giggling they are useless!! We had a game of dice and crib, then had to stop for a hot wing break.
Thanks for everyone who reads the blog and keeps up on all Matt's happenings. We will write more tonight.
