Matt was very happy to hear the quarantine was lifted Friday afternoon. One thing about dad not being there is Matt had to do some things for himself. He said that made him extremely grateful for dad and all the time he spends with Matt.
Wednesday Matt dressed himself, or should I say just his shirt. Unable to lift it over his head, because of all the rocks in it! In the head,,, not the shirt. Stood in the standing frame 3 times. Really working on Matt's upper body strength. They put the machine to about 80% of the way, and then Matt has to use his upper body to get himself into a full standing position. He says it is awful, so tired afterwards. Matt was also able to go outside on the lawn, but not in the parking lot. Was in his electric chair but was in his manual chair on Thursday. If he stays in his electric chair too long his legs become spastic. Was able to talk to dad from a distance but unable to make contact. Dad was busy making sure the van was in tiptop shape for the journey to Red Deer for the August long weekend. Cost $400 just to change all the fluids and replace some parts. Nothing is cheap these days.
On Friday when Matt was in his manual chair, tried wheeling himself around but by noon he was exhausted and had to ask for help to get him to and from his room. Tried also lifting his left leg with his right leg when they slipped off the wheelchair, the right being much stronger and said it was so difficult, like climbing a mountain without any training. Almost impossible. His mind is saying "yes I can do this" but his body is saying "Forget it Mister!" Has been eating all his meals by himself.
Friday was good news that he was able to visit with dad again. However still did rehab in his room because the quarantine was not lifted until later in the day. Played Wii with dad, baseball of course and also played some today when they were not watching the football game between Hamilton and Sask. Matt said it was such a close game with Sask winning 33-28 in the last 30 seconds of the game.
Tonight Matt and I were reminiscing about the "bad old days" when his injury first happened. I was talking about August long weekend last year and how when we almost lost Matt twice we got together and prayed for his healing and that he would continue to be with us. Thank God for answered prayers. Matt mentions it is so much a blur but still remembers when a fly would land on his nose and he couldn't brush it off. Again praise for Matt to be able to use his right hand to do so many things. 1 Chronicles 16:10-12 "Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced."

No Visitors For Awhile
Matthew phoned me last night upset about the no visitor rule for a few days due to a viral outbreak. So dad cannot go a visit and neither can anyone else. That is the first time since Matt was injured that someone hasn't been with him so prayers that the "quarantine" ends quickly and visitors are once again allowed. The worst part is no rehab in the therapy department because Matt cannot leave the floor he is on. So no trips outside and only therapy in his room.
Matt has been on the go since last Friday, when he travelled to Weekes for cousin Michelle's wedding. Loved sitting around the campfire and visiting with the family, stayed out until 1:30 am. For the wedding on Saturday they had a slow start and didn't even have Matt up when I phoned at 1pm. The wedding started at 2pm? in Weekes but I believe they made it on time.
Sunday visited again with family and didn't return to Saskatoon until 7 pm. Matt didn't get settled until 1230 am and was too worked up from all the happenings that he didn't feel tired and stayed up even later.
Monday Matt was once again in the pool. I think that is his favorite rehab. He was able to extend his legs in the pool like he was kicking to swim but needed weights to bring his legs back down. Also did a workout at the gym on the arm bike and pulleys.
Today Matt practiced dressing himself. He had gotten a new shirt which he really likes but is a bit smaller than what he is used to so was unalbe to get it over his head. Dad brought Matt some food, but wasn't able to see him. So a quiet day overall.
