Talked to mom and Matt on skype on Thursday. Mom was trying to tell me about Matt's rehab and he kept putting on the Sea Battle game! It was very hard to concentrate on what mom was saying with all the winning (by me, of course)!
However Wednesday Matt did some exercises on the mat and was quite impressed with himself. He was on his belly and the situated his arms and elbows just right underneath him and he held himself up for 10 mins! Great work Matt, but be careful, because he ended up hurting his shoulder again. They think alot of his shoulder pain stems from his neck so I am hoping when he comes to Red Deer again, we can try a new machine we got at the office called a LILT machine, or low intensity light therapy. Works to stimulate increase in cell permeability to increase healing time, to put it in very simple terms. Worth a shot. Anyway, he also practiced some rolling exercises and did the arm bike for 15 mins, but feels very tight in his shoulders.
Thursday was on the mat again and tried holding himself up while sitting. You must put his left hand in the right position and he can do pretty well. They are trying to get his to sit by himself. Matt worked on the pulleys and did great. However they were giving him heck because he is supposed to do stretching exercises first thing in the morning but he stays up so late and sleeps in, so Matt, wake up call in our house will be earlier than you like, but just imagine you are training for the Olympics, with a gold medal for you when you walk again. Which you better start doing soon to work off some of that weight you have gained, 193 lbs. So great to see you regaining your strength and appetite.
Mom had briefly mentioned how great Matt did in rehab on Friday but was unable to speak to her long and so unsure what Matt did, but will find out tomorrow.
Continue to pray for Matt's shoulder and neck, and to allow them to heal and so progress can continue.

Long Weekend is Over
It feels like a tornado has hit and the aftermath has set in! Thank goodness for dad and mom to help restore order!
It wasn't really that bad and we had great weather with lots of beanbag games, with Shauna and I capturing the B side win. And I know because there are pictures to prove it! And Giselle and Brett won the A side, but I think the whole affair was rigged!
So great to see everyone and thanks for all the help. Matt has improved so much since he was here in May. If he really concentrated and was feeling good, he could bend his left elbow!! Also he is so much more easy to transfer. Uncle Jim made this amazing transfer board that is just perfect for Matt and I could almost transfer him myself. He is much stronger when he sits up and can balance himself a bit with his right hand. We were not able to do as much as we would have liked to but it was so busy with all the family that it was just nice to visit with everyone and sit by the campfire. Matt of course was the last one to bed most nights and that meant mom and I were also the last ones to bed. However Matt would sleep in to 11 am and I would be up by 8 am, so next time I will wake him up at 8 am!!
Matt returned back to Saskatoon on Tuesday and will be discharged from Parkridge on Aug. 29th, so getting things ready for the possibility of him coming here for a few months. We will see what happens so please pray for guidance on what would be the best for Matt.
