Matt had a disappointing day. They had planned an outing for him to the Midtown Mall. However when the transportation arrived, Matt didn't fit. They tried reclining him, but they were unable to close the door because his feet stuck out. So to "vent" his frustrations, he went to ICU to visit. One of the nurses' stated her husband worked for a different cab company and she contacted him to see if he was free. So they went down and just tried to get Matt into her husband's cab. Matt fit, however the outing had been cancelled already, so hopefully they will go again tomorrow. Dad and Matt still took advantage of being all dressed up with no where to go. They took a spin outside for about 10 mins, but eventually the elements got the better of them and they came back inside.
Matt didn't get much in the way of rehab because he had to go for an ultrasound of his kidneys and bladder. Worried because it is not working properly and want to find out if there is a mechanical problem (tumor, blockage, etc) instead of a spinal cord problem.
It has been an adjustment to move from ICU to rehab. I think Matt is missing the one on one care. Hasn't really got to know the staff yet, as he doesn't see them as much. Hopefully that will change and they will come in to help a bit more with his activities of daily living. Thank goodness for the constant support of dad who is the cheerleader this week. Mom will not be back until next week. Prayers that Matt will continue to improve regardless of setbacks. God knows of our needs and the solutions to our problems, even when we don't. Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; lean not on your own understanding; in all ways acknowledge him, and he will make you paths straight."

Hi Matt,
It's been a while since I dropped in here with a word or two. Kind of been crazy around here.
I went with Reg to the Pas with a load of wood with the semi. Interesting but sometimes scarey experience. There's a really steep hill at km 80 through the bush and you have to make sure to radio ahead to make sure no one is coming from the other side or you won't make the hill.
Today, it's kind of storming up here and Reg said there was one guy who had to put chains on his truck to make it up the hill etc. Glad he made it home tonight after his run and up that steep hill.
Maybe you guys had the same strong winds in Saskatoon today as well. I haven't talked with Daniel to see if that's the kind of weather you've had there today either.
Good to see the new pics on the blog. Looks like the kids love sitting on your lap as well.
Larissa is writing a psychology exam tomorrow and has a few more to go before she comes home on the 18th. She's really loving psychology a lot and is actually taking two different classes this semester in that subject but is looking forward to coming home for Christmas as well.
We won't be up to Saskatoon before Christmas and I don't know when you'll be back in Weekes during the Christmas break either so I'll keep tabs on the blog to see what's happening.
Keep eating lots - sounds like those eggs are sliding down real easy which is a good thing.
And we're praying you get good nights sleep without the anxiety too.
Love the Hertz's
hi Matt-Just think how much money you saved by not going to that busy mall!?!?!?
Kelvin got a lot more enjoyment out of your visit than his shopping in the city-but he did get some done! The wind was nasty tonight-tomorrow is Neely Lake Christmas program so hope it calms down-that ol'hall has air conditioning! Pray you have a good day-and lots of good food!yy
Hi Matt;
Thought I sent you a note yesterday but I see it didn't go. Not impressed with computers these days. I have been trying to send puppy pictures to some people that want to buy our puppies, it takes forever if I can get them to send. ANYWAYS! The mall, I think you will be happy you didn't get there, too many busy people. Us country bumkins have a hard time at the mall, too fast paste.
It sounds to me like you are working hard and things are coming along real good. Keep it up Matt!
Nice pictures thanx girls. Nice greens Matt. Have a good day.
Love Deb
