I think being at home for a week took its toll on Matt. Rehab wasn't great this week because he just wasn't feeling well.
Tuesday felt just awful. Said he was so tired. They think it may be some kind of virus he picked up because some other people from the funeral felt the same way (me included!). They have changed the back of Matt's manual wheelchair to make it easier to do his exercises in, but states it feels so uncomfortable. The new back pushes him too far foreword. The manual chair is not made for him in the first place, just borrowed from another quad patient. Maybe have to look in to purchasing one for him (cost is around $8000). Matt still did some rehab in spite of feeling so yucky.
10:30 activities of daily living, such as trying to put his own shirt on, wash his face. Then off to the gym for some arm bike exercises.Did about 15 mins.
1400 tried to walk, just couldn't get those legs or feet to move, but did practice standing
1500 put him to bed because4 he was so tired, but he didn't sleep
1600 up in his power chair
1800 back to bed for the night
Wednesday Matt felt alot better.
100 20 mins arm bike
1100 occupational therapist put more traction on the left wheel
1300 used the sit/stand machine, works better than the previous one but he has to transfer into it, instead of going straight from his chair. So is more difficult and takes 2 people to do it. Has it in his room so can use it whenever he wants however difficult to find enough people to help.
1800 feed himself his supper, which was easy because it was KFC!
Thursday felt lousy again, dry heaving in the am, nauseated and faint. Didn't have any rehab because his therapist was out sick as well.By 6 pm Matt took some gravol and felt 100 times better. Nolan and Lindsay stopped on their way to Weekes and visited for awhile. Dad and Matt played Wii in the afternoon, bowling and baseball. Was up in the manual chair and tried to push himself. It works better with the new grip, but still is very weak and needs to continue to practice.
As the one year anniversary of Matt's accident approaches, he may feel that things are moving too slowly. Romans 8:25 "But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience". Easy for us to say, not having to live Matt's experience except through empathy. But we have all seen great things through Matt, and know that there a many more great things to come. Acts 3:16 "By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see." Now it isn't complete physical healing yet, but having movement in all limbs, breathing on his own, standing for short periods were all things unamaginable almost one year ago. So praise to God for all the blessings.

Hi Matthew. It was so good to see you and your dad yesterday. I am just amazed at your positive attitude. You are such an inspiration to us all.
I wish I could have brought back that nice rain you got in Saskatoon but no such luck. Dry as could be when I got home. Oh well, next time. Ha!
See you at Michelle & Cody's wedding in a couple weeks.
Love Aunty Sandy
