We finally got the van back on Friday. Cost a bit more than we hoped but it is better than trying to get a taxi everyday.
Everyone in our house except mom and myself has had the flu. Matt got it on the weekend and was really under the weather. Saturday he didn't even get out of bed. But unlike last year, when he gets sick, he rebounds much quicker.
Still going to OT 2 times a week and still waiting for physio at the hospital. The nannies are working him in the mean time. Shaunie even helps out when Uncle Matt leans too far forward in his chair and can't sit himself back up without some help. So Shaunie pushes on Uncle Matt's head and shoulders to get him to sit up. She was having a difficult time at the beginning with all the changes and her school was noticing a regression in her behaviour, but hopefully that will pass.
Grandma is in Calgary tonight enjoying the hockey game live! Gary and Jacki got her some tickets, thought she would enjoy a night out. Matt can transfer from the chair to the bed with 2 people so dad and I will get him all settled in. Jonmarie and Shaunie are already sleeping. The nannies are still here and playing games. Earlier Matt was teaching them how to play Wii. It was hilarious listening to them giggling downstairs.
Tomorrow Matt again goes to OT and then to John's office for more laser treatment on his neck and shoulder. The pain as greatly diminished and now Matt only takes Advil about once a week, if that. So thanks for all the prayers! And thanks for all those loyal followers of the blog. It is hard to believe that we started it almost 17 months ago. Will continue to keep you posted.

Hi Matthew & the household. Hope your mom enjoyed her time in Calgary. She must love being so close to all her grandchildren!!!
Everyone here is fine. Cheryl is settled in Saskatoon and loving it - she has picked up a few jobs here and there but nothing permanent yet.
Uncle & I are busy painting the house. It needed it badly. So far, no arguments. Ha!!!!!!
Talk to you all soon. I love to read your blog and happy to hear that you are feeling better. A few around here have had the flu also. Hope I don't get it.
Tell your mom I miss our annual shopping trip this time of year.
Love to you all.

Sorry Matt that I haven't popped in here in a while, but our family has been going through a tough time. My 26 yr old nephew was diagnosed with cancer in BC. was transferred to Vancouver from Fort St. John. Was initially told it was terminal, but now apparently he has the best dr in western Canada. He's done 2 MRI and now 2 biopsy's. Growth behind knee and was initally supposed to have his leg amputated. Sorry for the details, but we'd appreciate all your prayers. Thanks. His name is Myron.
Sound like you're settling in well in Alberta. Good to hear the neck pain is diminished. That's a big praise item. Must run. Only a million and one things to get done around here.

Hi Matthew. Just wanted to remind you all that it is grandma's birthday today (the 19th). She would have been 89. I know we all miss her very much and think of her often. I meant to write it in my earlier comment but forgot (old age, I guess). Talk to you all soon.
Love Aunty Sandy

Hey there Matt, Glad to hear you're doing so well. Been a long time since you were in City hospital ICU and it is so wonderful to read how far you've come. SMILE!!!!! The ICU is no longer there (is so sad) the staff have dispersed and some are doing well, some are struggling with all the changes. I'm at the RUH in the CCU(next door to the ICU you were in first) and it's going OK.It was hard to start a new job after 15 years in a job I loved, but life goes on and we have to make the best of what we are dealt. Give your mom a big hug for me. Thanks for keeping up with the blog so us old nurses can keep tabs on our FAVORITE patient. HUGGGGGGS to all
