No Internet

I am quickly updating the blog from work in between patients. Our Internet at home has been down since Friday night. Hoping to get it back soon however this freezing, mind numbing cold will continue for awhile and they cannot send out anyone to check the tower. -40 this am with the windchill so Matt is house bound for a few days. We did manage to make it to a Lacrosse game Saturday night. The van started great but I noticed it was not giving off any heat. By the time we got home from the game Matt was a little frozen ice cube in the back. Without heat, the hydraulic lift for the wheelchair was soo slow that John, Cecilia, and myself would get on with Matt to give it more weight to get it down. Ahh, lovely winter.
But Matt did enjoy the game between Calgary Roughnecks and Edmonton Rush. Disappointed in the food, not like the Porcupine rink where you order fries and can actually share with your friends.
Last night when we were putting Matt to bed, mom and I found that he was able to move easier than when he first got here. When lying in bed, he can make his knees bend one at a time with spastic movements. Also on Thursday he had a cold and was getting cold and hot. The interesting thing was he started to sweat in his lower back, which he hasn't done since the accident. So more nerve conduction is going through we hope.
Barry and Giselle stopped in for a short visit on Sunday. They had travelled from Victoria last week and it was nice to see them.
Have great day and stay warm.

Hi Matt, it is freezing cold here too, we went to Chad's game in Nipawin on Saturday night and on the way home the thermometer in Marty's truck said -40. I guess it is never to cold for hockey. Josh had a good week, he got to play net for two periods of a league game. He was pumped, he only let two in, the other team wasn't really strong but he did make some good stops. Marty was in Lloyd so he misssed it. We are four days away from holidays and the kids are sure ready for it. As usual I am not done shopping yet, but unlike most years I am close, I usually make a trip to the city around the 20th or so and do it all in one day but this year I have managed a trip in a little earlier so only a few things to do on the way out to spend Christmas with Marty. Merry Christmas to you and all of your family.

BRRRRRRR Where isn't it freezing? It has been terribly cold for the last few days. I am staying inside today. It is -24 right now (11:20a.m.) our time. The sun is shining and the trees aren't blowing so maybe not so bad today. I went shopping yesterday for awhile but still have a few things left to do. Hopefully I will get it done tomorrow.

Everyone here is fine and waiting for Christmas. We have the grandchildren's Christmas parties Wednesday & Thursday. They would be upset with grandma & grandpa if we didn't come for that. Ha!

Take care, keep warm and keep working hard at all that good movement you are doing.

A big HUG for your mom from me.

Hey Matt, Hope you're getting over your cold. I'm just coming down with one, just in time for Christmas and traveling. Reg will be in northern Alberta working through the Christmas holiday and so just Larissa and I will be going away. Dan & Erin will stay up at Hague to celebrate with her family from Vancouver and then we'll celebrate around the 3rd of January. Sounds like you're making improvements which is great to hear. Good news on my nephew as well. He's in Calgary, and ready to begin chemo. They let him out of Vancouver just two weeks after surgery and are simply amazed at how he is doing. The lymphnodes came back clear of cancer, even though they were even larger than the MRI said. Thankful to the Lord for taking care of that problem.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas, filled with God's peace, love and joy.
