There wasn't much change for Matt today. He was able to sit up at a 90 degree angle for 1 hr and 15 min which was great, and his ventilator was down to 30%. Also, his physio activities have increased which makes him quite tired. Matt has realized that he has been badly hurt, and he is sad about his condition. But the nurses say he is not complaining and tries his best to do everything they ask them.
We also wanted to clarify the "strike" situation. Matt will NOT be moving from Saskatoon. The only way he would be moved is we as a family thought he wasn't getting enough care (physio treatments, etc.) and we requested the transfer. We do not anticipate anything like that happening.
Thanks for your continued prayers as we make this journey together with Matt.

Ps Mrs. Stadnek was here yesterday and she wants to come see you so bad. But knows she can't just yet. I keep her posted. She sends you a hug.
Hello Gustafson family and all the people helping and supporting them. Denita told me yesterday what happened to Matt. It´s been a hard week, but is good to hear that you are doing better. I just want to ask everyone that is closer (geographically) than me, to be there for them, for Matt. I can only offer my prayers and my thoughts, be sure that you will be in them (more than what you always are). I know that you have not heard from me in a very long time and it hurts that it hast to be in this conditions but I’m with all of you Gustafson’s (my second Canadian family).
You are very strong Matt, you are surrounded by amazing human beings that love you and care for you a lot, I know them, I was up there remember? They will be with you and for you at every step of your recovery and after it to enjoy your company like they always do. “God doesn’t put us trough adversities that we can’t surpass”. I’m sure that you will do great.
I miss you a lot.

Hi Matt(Uncle George, Auntie Joanne, Jackie, Shelley, and Nolan).
Matt- even since Mom told me what happened you've been on my mind and I can't help but remember when you were born. I felt a bond with you then, I guess because just like you, I was a preemie too, and I knew you had struggles ahead of you. I remember thinking then, "C'mon little guy, you can do it - you can get through this." Well, today I'm thinking the same thing! Only, today you're not a little baby, you're a young man. This is still going to be a struggle, Matt! A great challenge for you, I realize. But I believe that God has had a hold of your life since you were a baby and has helped you to overcome your struggles, just as He helped me to overcome mine as a preemie. He has something special in store for your life, Matt. Believe that. You have so many people praying for you and so many people who love you, us included! We are praying for your family too, as I am sure every one of them wishes they could take this away from you. We wish we could visit you Matt, but it is so hard to get off this rotton Island sometimes! But please know we will be checking this blog and making phone call to check your progress. We love you all! Take Care!
