Prayers for Tomorrow
The Long weekend is over and back in Red Deer. Mom had been writing on the blog since Friday from Saskatoon because the computer in Weekes wasn't working. I had been able to visit with Matt last night and we had a great visit, with a few blonde moments thrown in that he really teased me about. This am he was a bit more subdued, had tried a breathing trial, and we really had to encourage him to do the whole 20 mins. His anxiety level is higher then before, and rightly so. He had a terrible set back this weekend. He also completed another breathing trail with mom present, and he sweats like anything. They explained that his body reacts like it has completed a 500 metre dash. However they would like to see him off the respirator so prayers for Matt's anxiety and peace of mind. Tomorrow will be a big day hopefully. They would like to move two of the chest tubes because they are no longer draining. The reason for this is they believe some air escapes when Matt breathes and may be causing him the feeling of inadequate air intake during the breathing trials. In the morning they are performing an EMG, which is a nerve conduction test on his diaphragm, to see if there is nerve damage, which we don't want. Prayers that the results are okay. Another plus is they will definitely do his swallowing assessment on Thursday. The physio therapist tested him quickly and feels he is doing much better, and that he will probably pass the test. They didn't want Matt to suffer another disappointment and had chose to wait. Hard sometimes to wait for positive outcomes but patience is a virtue all of us have had to learn. Romans 12:12 "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer".

Well, it's 5:53 a.m. and I'm up, checking the blog. Would you believe it, but I actually head to the pool at 6:30 a.m. for aquasize - and so do about 20 other people. Are we nuts or what! Ha!
Will definitely pray for things to be on the upswing now and for Matt's peace from the anxiety and that he'll pass the swallowing test. We know you can do it Matt.
Thanks for the update!
Bev
Good Morning Matthew, Joanne & All
We are so very happy things are better than they were on the weekend. Our thoughts and prayers were with you and your mom everyday. We had a nice reunion but it just wasn't the same without you two. Next year will be better. I missed sharing the birthday cake with you.
We are getting ready to start harvest but I want to come visit you and your mom before that. Joanne, give me a call so we can plan time next week or the next.
Love you guys and praying for each thing you have to go through this week.
Joanne you did a good job on the blog - not bad for a first timer. Ha! See you soon.
Love Aunty Sandy & Uncle Orest

checked the blog so often on the weekend i thought my comouter was going to burn up. so thankful that all is well and prayer for breathing test to be a positive one. the hurdles are large but everyones praying for them to become small. think of you everyday matt. take care.ella
We really appreciate the work in keeping Matt's information so current - our thoughts and prayers are often with Matt, Joanne & family. I want to share a saying that made sense to me when I was going through my chemo treatments - it is a reminder that there is always a rainbow after the storm - and I believe there is going to be a fantastic rainbow shining when Matt has his swallowing test! The storm has lasted long enough, I'm sure Matt is ready to see what the next step brings on his road to recovery. Brenda & Don Gabel
