All Dressed Up

For the first time in 3 months, Matthew was all dressed in a T-Shirt Kim Logan had given him, sweatpants, socks. Mom said he looked like a million dollars. Sat up in his chair for 4 hours, tired him out though and did get a bit nauseous. But he still ate well for supper, almost a whole chicken burger (without the bun). They managed to keep his temp down today with just Tylenol, still unsure where the infection is but pray that it will clear on its own with no antibiotics. The physiotherapist did a functional assessment to see what Matt's mobility level is at, and stated that she felt muscle tone in his left forearm and his left thumb quivering, which is great. She gave him some exercises to do to strengthen what he has for mobility. They are hoping to start his trach trials tomorrow, he had to switch to a portable ventilator and thought it might be better to let him adjust. Nolan got to see Matt's "partner in crime" Rocky, who was with Matt in ICU in RUH. He is in rehab and is off his ventilator, and had his motorized wheelchair already. Things to look forward to. Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."

Hey Matt! (and Joanne and whoever else is there with you)

Four hours in one stretch sitting up. Way to go. Will be praying for your trach trials tomorrow and the nausea as well.

I have hunters coming from Quebec tomorrow. So I've been 'deep sea' cleaning like crazy and am dead tired. Serge & Mathieu Cusson plus 3 others are coming. Mathieu spent a month with us back in 1998 when he was only 11. He couldn't speak a word of English and my French is non existant. Now he's 20 years old and has been through 2 years of police college. Hard to believe how time flies. I haven't seen Mathieu in 7 years so it'll be interesting I'm sure for both of us. I remember when he spent that time at our place, he loved making sugar cookies (and decorating them). I think I'll have to whip up a batch and see if it brings back any fond memories for him. You too share the same name - one is just spelled the English way and the other the French way.

Reg tried to combine again today but then it started raining. So much for combining for another day. We sure could use some 'hot' weather to get the crop off. If only they could send some of that plus 25 from the east this way. At least I'm done with the swathing.

Well, I should get to bed. Looks like it's 11:59 p.m. Hope you're snoozing by now in your new 'digs'.

I think I'll be in Saskatoon around the 17th of Oct and so I'll try and pop over to see you.

Keep those toes wiggling. See you soon.
Bev H.

P.S. Looks like my little notes turn into rather long epistles. Should keep you busy for a while. And now it's 12:06 a.m. Getting too old to stay up so late. I really need a life, eh?

Luke 18:27
Hope you have a restful night so you can get on with your new exercises-it will amaze you what they come up with for ideas-I remember being there with Sandy and today she drove to see mom - just a reminder of how far she came - but I know the exercises were VERY tiring and hard at times but it paid off. Keep working hard -we're praying for you each day. Today mom said to tell you she is thinking of you too. yy

I wish I was there with my camera when you were all dressed up in your fancy clothes for the first time. You wouldn't have looked the same. I am so happy and thank God for all the things you have accomplished. Keep working at it.

The sun is shining beautiful today - hopefully they will be able to combine today or tomorrow. We got very little rain yesterday so that is very good.

See you when the harvest is done. I will bring you some more flax cookies.

Love Aunty Sandy

Hey there Stranger!

It just seems like forever since you left RUH, and it has only been a few days!
It was so nice to see you all settled in at SCH, and further more it was even nicer to see that smile that we are all missing so much.. You stay strong and keep your chin up!
I will see you in a day or two, and have a little more time to spend with you, I sure hope you know how many of us are behind you Matt!

The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
~Psalm 18:2

God Bless
Krista RN

PS. I sure hope you and Rocky can keep the RN's on their toes over there, they need it! haha!

Hi Matt. Great to hear that you made it to City and can start on your physio. You'll be pumping iron every day!! Good luck to you, it can get pretty hard some days, but with the love and support of your wonderful family, you'll cruise through it no problem. Thinking of you often.
