Quiet Weekend

Not too much to report today. While I was in Saskatoon, I had bought Matt some stretchy bands and 1 lb weight's to work with while in his room. The physio gave mom some exercises to do with them and has been working pretty well. Continues to do the leg exercises while in the chair, up to 3 times a day. Matt's right leg can kick much higher than his left and is getting stronger everyday. They also encourage Matt to try and lift his bum up. He can lift the right butt cheek slightly but not the left. Prayers that the left arm and hand will wake up and start to move more. He is able to move it a bit but not enough to do anything with it. Prayers that the left elbow will bend as well, as that would help in Matt being able to transfer from bed to chair by himself. Paul writes in Ehesians about just how much we are cherished by God. Verse 18-19 "may have power together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is th love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God".
I forgot to mention while I was there we talked with the social worker. We were quite worried Matt would be discharged at the end of February and we were not prepared. We want Matt at home only when he is capable and shows more improvement. The hospitals understanding was that we wanted him at home as soon as possible. So some mixed communication there and everything is on hold for awhile. Matt will stay in the rehab department until a transition bed is available somewhere else in the city. Then Matt will likely stay at the transition facility for another 90 days. So that could give us until August, which would be better weather for moving (we hope, you never know in Canada when winter will come again!.

Good morning all. Glad to hear that u have got things staishtened out with the hospital,although it would be nice to be coming home. That will come before u know it.Thanks Matt for keeping Braden for a couple of days,kept him out of my hair.I see u can send us notes on the comp. now,will be nice to have that internet.Will say bye for now.Bryon,Brenda&fam.

Good morning! Glad to hear all is well. Shelly the video was great -had a few tears flowing at our house. Was so great to see - and again thanks. I was just having a coffee and wondering how your weekend went, and sure enough I am all up to speed now!
I am sure you are happier that it is warmer outside you will be outside lots more before you know it.. Its so nice to hear that things are straightend out with the hospital, what a big relief!

Hi Matt.
I am so glad to hear things are ironed out with the hospital. Everyone is wanting you to be able to return home but only when you are ready.
Every step you take is a forward one! You are doing an amazing job and I have so much respect for the hard work you are having to do to accomplish so much!

Hi Matt, Joanne and whoever else is there.
Sounds like more good news, so great when there is good communication. Winston & George had their long chat yesterday as I had thought they might. We thought it was soooo great about Matt's being able to put the female patient's mind at ease and help her understand what to expect etc
so to lessen her fear. The Lord's already using you to minister to others needs Matt. (take a bow)

Hey Matt;

It is so good to hear all the good news, you are making so many improvements. glad to hear that the hospital isn't going to discharge you at the end of February, as much as I am sure you want to go home! I think it is for the best to give all of you the best chance at being ready for you to get home. We think about you all the time, and talk about all your accomplishments daily.

Matt, you have come such a long way and have done so well for yourself! Keep it up with that positive thinking! Have you heard of "The Secret" If you haven't, you and your family should read it! It reinforces the whole idea of positive thinking and the power of the mind! Some pretty amazing stories that I think would provide some more encouragement.

Hey matt, good to hear your doing better and better, too bad i wasnt around to see you stand, mayb il see u in march when im back for my check up, if you are still around. keep up the good work. hope the good old seventh floor hasnt gotten to boring!
