Internet Hook-up

Matt finally was able to get wireless internet in his room. He is quite excited to be able to read the blog and the comments. Also we will get him Skype, which will enable him to phone from computer to computer for a very minimal price. Right now he is using his cell phone and it gets expensive.
Thursday the girls and I travelled back to Red Deer. However I was able to video tape Matt standing at the parallel bars with four people helping. He stood for over a minute and they even tried to give him minimal support. However his knees want to buckle so they have to keep them supported.
Yesterday Dad went home. Matt did not do any standing but did really well in his arm exercises. While I wa there, he tried to lift 3 lbs with his right arm. What he does is try to lower his arm to his side with the pulley. That day he wasn't able to do it but yesterday he did fine. He also lifted 3 lbs with his foream by flexing his wrist. Tried to do some leg exercises while in the chair. Mom takes off his leg rests so Matt's feet are dangling. Then he tries to lift his bottom leg up. His right is stonger than the left but he was able to do it with both legs. Keep it up Matt. Need to strengthen those muscles.
Matt received an early birthday present from Karl and Corina. A nice carrying case for his laptop. Before the computer just sat on a bedside table and was always at risk for spills and things.
While I was speakingto mom, she was giving Matt grief because he was trying to bite his fingernails on his left hand by holding it up with his right. Can't quite do it. States it feels like he is trying to lift 100lbs. I told her to leave him as it is a form of exercise.
Psalms 103:2-3 "Praise the Lord, o my soul, and forget not all his benefits- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases."

Hi Matt and family,
Never really know who is there, just so wonderful that some one always is there or on the way. We have had major problems for awhile with our computer, first it picked up a virus, then trouble with shaw cable hook up around the apartment building. We seem to have things back on track. Love the new picture Shelly, Dad and wow!! Matt looking good with the mustache and beard. So wonderful to read all the things you have moved up to Matt. All of us, who don't see you periodically, really get blown away at all the updates, and constant, I repeat constant progession. You are amazing!!
We are experiencing very Spring like weather. I helped Tracey yesterday to transplant some primroses, daffadils, crocuses etc.
from Deneens yard to hers. We all will be helping to get Deneen moved from unnecessary large house in Lantzville, to a one bdrm apartment in Nanaimo next Saturday.
We are getting to the root of the work load now and anxious to see her settled in and happy.
Uncle Wince is in Ladysmith today, should be back before eve. I imagine he will connect with George hopefully tomorrow. Have one of their hour or so conversations. It's good for both of them.Much love & prayers, aunty carol & family

Hey Matt, internet hookup. Pretty soon you'll be able to get back at some of us (namely me) for some of the lame jokes I've sent your way.

Just got back from Briercrest. I took Desi Fullerton and Heidi Salmond there for Youth Quake. Desi was a little nervous with that many people around but seemed to really enjoy herself.

They had a bunch of drummers from campus put on this performance using aluminum garbage cans as drums plus a pile of other stuff, all to music, jumping and twisting all over the place. It was really amazing.

Larissa is taking drum lessons there as well and is doing really well. She's been banging on them for a few years at home and did take some lessons here in town, but she says that what she's learned there in one semester doesn't quite compare with the 3 years of lessons she had here.

Of course they had a pile of other bands there, an illusionist, competitions and an awesome speaker, fireworks and a pile of other stuff - all of which I can't remember at the moment.

Speaking of speakers, now that you have the internet, you might want to check out this guy. I saw him on tv a while back and checked out his web site. He is one unbelievable guy. He was born without arms or legs and only kind of has a 'flipper' on the bottom of one side. His torso and head are completely normal and he is an amazing speaker. Here's the web site.

Whenever I think I have it tough, all I have to do is click into his website. He just amazes me every single time.

Well, sleep was almost non existant this weekend. I spent it in the dorm with the girls. Six of us crammed into one room. There was no curfew the whole weekend and so there'd be kids running up and down the halls, screaming at 3 in the morning. Just a little crazy but I did survive (ha! - for an old lady as me).

Speaking of sleep, I'd better run along. Hope sleep is coming better your way, but I guess now with the web, at least you've got something to do if you can't sleep.

Keeping hanging in there and keep up the fight.
