Getting organized...

Just to let everyone know, we were not able to do the blog yesterday as the power has been out at Shelley's since yesterday at 6pm, and dad & I were unable to hook up for me to get an update. We should be back on track for this week.

Anyway, Matt has been doing awesome. I understand that the hospital staff have changed the timing of his meds to try to prevent the nausea that plagues him most days. It seems to have worked today as he was able to eat all his meals without feeling sick. Lets pray that this trend continues! He had lost of visitors today and yesterday which is great as Matt really perks up when he has people to talk too. Since he is an official coach potato, he can converse on many topics that he sees on TV - his favorites being football and baseball right now. He watched the last quarter of the Rider game today (was asleep for most of the game as he didn't know it was on - part time fan!), and is currently cheering on the Rockies in the MLB semi-final.

Physically, Matt was able to sit in his chair for 3 hrs today and 4 hrs yesterday, and also had his cuff deflated for about 2-3 hrs each day so he could talk to his visitors. He didn't have a trach trial today, but had one yesterday for 1/2 hour (they stopped as this was the first time in a while and didn't want to overdue it - but I guess Matt did great). Please pray for continued success in his trach trials so that his lungs will get stronger, and he will become more independent.

Hi guys!

Well, we had a power outage here as well. It lasted for about an hour. I was busy on the computer when everything went black and I wandered through the house to the kitchen drawer where I knew there was a flashlight and a candle. Really can't imagine being blind. Hard enough trying to find my way to the kitchen in total darkness.

It rained most of Saturday but today it was a nice day. Really foggy in the morning and then it cleared off and was really quite warm.

Glad to hear they are getting those meds straightened around. It's really terrible to feel nauseated all the time. Glad you were able to eat.

Well Matt, when I drop in to see you this week, I won't know a thing about baseball or hockey. I'm from way back when - when Dave Keon and Darryl Sittler were still playing for the Leafs and you're probably not a Leafs fan.

I am rooting for the Roughriders, but unfortunately, I can't name any players either.

Well, I should run. Making up a list of things I need to take to the city! Have a good snoozeeeeeeeeeee! See you soon.

Hi Matt,

Sounds like you are working really hard every day. I missed the first 3 quarters of the Riders game too...didn't realize it was on so early. We are cheerng for the Rockies as well...but I think Boston will win.

We haven't been to S'toon in a while so haven't got in to see you. I can only imagine the change we will see when we do see you...we were there in early July and you have come so far since then.

Keep it up Matt...

Hope you will be able to make it home for Christmas!

Hey Matt!! Sounds like you have a great few days since I was last able to check the blog. I am back up and running with a computer at home so I can check more frequently.

Continue working hard, and pretty soon you will be lifting more weight then you could before!

I think about you daily and pray for small blessings...which will lead to your end goal!

Say hi to everyone!

Love Heather

Hi Matt,
Glad to hear of your progress. Keep it up. Didn't get to see the ftball game, but the outcome was right. Hopefully we'll get in to see you sometime again once we get the cattle all looked after.
Say hi to the rest of the family,
