A Bit Better

Matt seemed to have a better day. His O2 sats are the best they have been for awhile. Mom thinks the move regarding that aspect has improved. Air quality seems to be better. Matt does have a window in his room, which is another bonus. Staff and administration had a meeting and things have improved. Still not up to par,but hopefully within the next few days. Matt was able to get a DVD player so he can at least watch movies. Mom had a discussion with the director of nursing who was very understanding and Matt did not have that particular nurse again. Matt did 2 breathing trials, 25 mins and 30 mins. He is still quite anxious when he does them and they are trying to encourage him to go for longer periods. Only when he is off the respirator can he be moved to rehab. So that's our big prayer for today. Please remember to thank God for all the little blessings as well (no temp, DVD player, different nurse, window). 1 Thess 5:16-18 "Be joyful always, pray continuously, give thanks in all circumstances for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus".

Little by little Matt. We are praying for that breathing to get stronger, so you can get into rehab. Your road must seem slow and long Matt, so lean on the arms of the Great Healer who promises to never leave us. He will be there for you. Take courage and rejoice in the tiny steps, no matter how small they may seem at the time. We will be praying for the staff to help and encourage you. Remember Matt little by little.

Hi Matthew & Family

So happy to hear you had a better day today. We all felt bad about your day yesterday. Also happy to hear that you have a window to look out of, a DVD player to watch movies and a DIFFERENT nurse - we know that there are a lot of very good nurses in ICU.

Please try really hard to breath for longer periods of time without your respirator. The more you try, the easier it will get.

Way to go Joanne, you keep on the staff to make sure Matthew gets the best care possible.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers constantly. Take care and we will talk to you soon.

Love Aunty Sandy & Uncle Orest

Just when we start to wonder what next- things start to improve. We thank God for every little improvement for you Matthew. Yesterday is behind you so try not to dwell on the negatives, Please try to stay calm and breathe for longer periods of time each day so that you can go to rehab. Aunt Evelyn and Uncle Hugh pray for you constantly too.They send their love.Good for you Joanne. That nurse should be reported but I am sure there are lots of good nurses too. We are coming but not until Thursday now as I have to have blood work done on Thursday morning.Hold on tight to God's hand Matthew, and He will see you though this tough time. Love Auntie Ardis and Uncle Ken.

Hi Matt;

So glad you had a better day yesterday, those are the ones you have to hold onto. Remember that the little things are steps toward your big goals.

Keep working hard on your breathing, and it will improve, and then you can start rehab, which is even a bigger step towards recovery.

We think about you, and pray for you all the time, and know that you can get through this.

Love you lots. Say hi to your family for me!!

Love Heather
