Tough Day

It was a long day today. Matt had trouble with his breathing off and on. He did manage to breath on his own, once for 20 mins and again for 55 mins. They did not get him up in his chair today, he just wasn't up to it. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day so he can still have his swallowing assessment. While I was in their with him, I was having a difficult time seeing him in pain and discomfort. He said not to worry, God was worrying for me. Then when it was time to say our nightly prayers, he asked if the nurse would join us. What a great brother I have. Romans 5:2 "through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God".

Hey Matt!! Sorry to hear that yesterday wasn't as good as the one before, but we know that will happen. That is great news that you were breathing on your own for such long periods of time. You had to really full days before yesterday, so I am sure that your body is tired. I am sure that today will be a better day again.

I continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers, and know that you will be able to fight your way through this!!

Please say hi to everyone...love you all, and hope to see you soon. Love you Matt!!!

Hey Matthew! Sorry to hear that yesterday was a rough one, but still much better that a week ago! We're so glad that tube is finally out- can't even imagine what a relief that must be! And we're so thankful that they found a chair to fit you so you can be up and go outside! Funny how little things like having your hair washed and a little fresh air can make you feel so much better!

We think about you all the time and constantly pray for you! See you soon! Love you! Hi to everyone!

Love, Shannon, Ray, Brett, Kiera, and Kaylie XOXOXO

Matt, Joanne & Family
Matt, You are an amazing young man, and I am certain that God has a wonderful plan for your life. Stay strong and know that he is with you always as are we, your family and friends. May God bless and keep You and may his face shine upon you.

Joanne! You are an amazing women, a pillar to your family, anyone would be proud to be able to call you their sister, mother, wife, aunty, cousin, niece or friend. Why this come to us is hard to understand. My first thoughts are to question God for the things he does and things he allows, but then I remember the book of Job and the things Satan was allowed to do to him and his family. Though I don’t understand it, I pray that God will give you and all of us the strength to carry on.
My thoughts and prayers are with you always.
And Yes! I am (we are)very proud to call you my (our) Sister.

Love Karl

Hello Gustafsons

I am so sorry to hear about Matt's accident - I can still remember when Matt was born and how strong he must have been to overcome his early arrival. I am sure that with the help of such a great family and so many friends; as the comments clearly show that he will have that strength again. Maybe this quotation by Don Juan will also add some strength;

The only difference between an ordinary man and a warrior is that an ordinary man sees everything as either a blessing or a curse and a warrior sees everything as a challenge.

This is just another challenge, and unfortunately challenges are never easy. Sometimes it helps to tell yourself that you are a warrior - you may not be able to control much, but you can control how you perceive the situation. It's not much comfort I know...but my thoughts are with you Matt and your family during this time. Keep being a warrior!
